As we start a new school year at the same time I launch my blog, I thought we should begin with a few prayers to start the academic year off on a good note. You can pray these all at once or select portions to pray daily.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you as humbly as I know how. Thanking you for another day. Father how excellent is your name in all the earth. I enter into your gates with Thanksgiving and into Your courts with Praise. This is the day God that You have made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.
A Prayer for Parents
Father, I ask that you encourage the parents to be actively involved in their children’s education. Help them to be actively involved in their homework and other school activities. Help the parents to work with their children to complete all projects and assignments. Help the parents to continue to train their children up in the way you have instructed them to in Proverbs 22:6. Help the parents to partner with the teachers this school year to ensure that optimal learning for their child is being achieved. In Jesus name.
A Prayer for Students
Father as we enter into a new academic school year, I ask that you Bless the students and the teachers throughout this entire year. Father, I ask that you allow the students to experience your presence as they first step foot on the school grounds. Help them to face the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year will bring.
Bless them as they start the new school year and as they meet new students and teachers. Allow them to meet new friends who will be positive influences for them. Father help them to be enthusiastic about learning. Give them wisdom, knowledge, revelation, and understanding of all the subjects that they will have to learn.
Help them stay attentive to their teachers. Help them keep an open mind about what they are learning. Remind them that they are the head and not the tail. They are above and not beneath. Remind them, Father, that they are fearfully and wonderfully made by you.
Bless the schools Lord and keep them safe from all hurt, harm or danger. Cover all of the children under the blood of Jesus. Protect them as they wait for the school buses. Cover the bus drivers under the blood of Jesus. Help them to safely transport our children to and from school, and from other school activities. Protect the children as they travel to and from school each day. Father protect them from anyone who would even attempt to cause them harm.
Help the children not to be subjected to peer pressure and help them to be an example for the children that they associate with. Father give them the mind of Christ and help them to make wise decisions. Father help the students to be quick to hear and slow to speak. Help the children to be good team players, and to exercise integrity and self-control at all times.
Help the children to always be respectful to their teachers, other students, the principal, and Administrative staff. Give them a teachable spirit and a warm and pleasant disposition. Help them quickly recognize danger, and temptations and immediately flee from them. In Jesus name.
Give the children fresh and new enthusiasm about learning. Give them wisdom beyond their years. Give them confidence in themselves and equip them with the ability to persevere through tough times.
Father help them to accomplish all the tasks, projects, and assignments that they are given this year. Help them to score exceptionally well on all required tests. Help them to excel academically, physically, spiritually, and socially. In Jesus name.
A Prayer for Teachers, Principals, Administration, and Staff
Father, I ask that you Bless the Teachers, Principal, and Administration. Give them a passion for teaching and a compassionate heart for the children. Always help them to be patient and understanding. Provide the teachers with all the resources and supplies that they need to have a successful school year.
Help them to be creative as they implement fun, exciting, and challenging ways to learn. Help them keep the children engaged, interested, and excited about learning. Give the teachers wisdom, knowledge, revelation and understanding about how to reach each and every student this year.
Help them to be good listeners, Father and to stay calm during stressful situations that may arise. Help them to understand each child’s uniqueness and give them a discerning spirit. Help them to quickly recognize and appropriately act to assist any child that may need additional educational, emotional, or spiritual support. Help them utilize positive words of encouragement to speak Life into the children. In the name of Jesus.
A Prayer of Declaration for All Educational Stakeholders
Father, I declare and decree that this shall be the best academic year that our children and teachers have had. I declare and decree that every school in Henry and Clayton Counties are covered under the blood of Jesus. I declare and decree that our children and our teachers are protected from any hurt, harm or danger that may try to come their way. I declare and decree that any attack that the enemy would even try to bring against them will be exposed and stopped immediately. In Jesus name.
Thank you, Father, for being their Refuge and their Strength. Thank you for being a very present help in the time of trouble. Thank you, Lord, for providing for all the needs of the children and teachers according to your riches in glory. Thank you for the Angels that are assigned to them who watch over them and protect them each and every day.
Father as I close this prayer, I give you thanks and I give you praise that everything that I have prayed shall come to pass. I thank you that according to your word in Mark 11:24 that whatever I ask for in prayer and believe that I have received it shall be mine. In the name of Jesus.
A new school year is filled with the hope and promise of a safe and healthy academic environment. For the most part, our children are safe. We should not fear but stay in prayer for God’s continuous protection. Yes, many schools don’t allow prayer, but you have the freedom to pray for your children in your homes.
